The presentation by The Polish American Travelers Club

On Saturday November 5th, at the hall of the Holy Rosary Church in Passaic, a multimedia presentation related to unveiling of the plaques to honor John Paul II at the bottom of the Colca Canyon by the waterfalls which bears His name (Cascadas de Juan Pablo II) in Peru took place. The presentation was organized by the Polish-American Travelers Club from New Jersey directed by Jurek Majcherczyk and under the John Paul II Foundation New Jersey Chapter’s patronage. All gathered guests had a chance to learn about the history and see the beauty of the Colca Canyon and John Paul II Waterfalls, to the degree the multimedia presentation made it possible. The Colca Canyon was discovered and conquered by the group of Polish students from Cracow under Jurek Majcherczyk direction, that was, without any doubts, one of the biggest discoveries from the second part of the twentieth century.
Guests who came for this presentation heard Jurek Majcherczyk’s testimony. The history of the Canyon’s discovery deeply intertwined with the person of John Paul II and already at that time (in 1981) the young travelers somehow experienced that miraculous care granted by today’s Blessed John Paul II.
One of the plaques with the inscription “In Honor of John Paul II – The Great Apostle of Divine Mercy – John Paul II Foundation – New Jersey Chapter, USA – May 28, 2011” was sponsored by the John Paul II Foundation, New Jersey Chapter. We believe that, as the tourist value of this place is increasing, the plaque will constantly remind about the great heritage of the Blessed John Paul II, and especially about His role in the dissemination of the Divine Mercy cult.
At the end of the presentation, guests had a chance to ask a lot of questions and to obtain a book portraying discovery of the Canyon with Mr. Majcherczyk’s autograph.
The presentation provided a great opportunity to communicate news, and most of all, to share with others my experience from the 30th anniversary celebrations of the John Paul II Foundation which just ended and from which I just returned from Rome.
