Father Jason Worthley offers his own personal homage to Pope John Paul II in this video.
The life of John Paul II: His pontificate changed History
When he was young, he had to overcome the death of his entire family, he worked in a factory while he studied for the priesthood in secrecy. These actions helped shape the personality of John Paul II, one of the most important people of the twentieth century and the history of the Catholic Church. He had the makings of an actor, but the arrival of war and Nazi occupation changed his plans.
John Paul II is without a doubt the pope who has broken the most records in the Churchs history. First, his pontificate is on the longest on record. He was the head of the Catholic Church for 26 years: only Pius IX and Saint Peters pontificates lasted longer than John Paul II.
When he was young, he overcame the death of his entire family, he endured the hard life of a labor worker and he studied in secrecy with the help of his professors. That’s how John Paul II was shaped.
His story began in the small polish town of Wadowice on May 18, 1920. He was baptized one month later. He said it was here that his vocation as a Christian and for the priesthood was born.
