On the first Sunday in November 2010, we came back with the next cycle of the Papal’s Evenings under the motto “John Paul II’s co-workers”. After the Mass in the intention of the prompt beatification of the God’s Servant John Paul II, the lecture titled JohnPaul II and Liturgy presented Rev. dr Arkadiusz Nocon from the Congregation of Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments in Vatican.
The participants from various positions and backgrounds of the Rome’s Polonia listened to the lecture with a great interest.
Today, we are cordially inviting for our next meeting.
John Paul II as model for Christians in old age, illness
On a visit to a nursing home in London on September 18, Pope Benedict XVI suggested to the residents that they use the late Pope John Paul II as their model in facing the difficulties that come with old age and illness.
“One may enjoy good health in old age; but equally Christians should not be afraid to share in the suffering of Christ, if God wills that we struggle with infirmity,” the Pope told the residents of the home, run by the Little Sisters of the Poor. He observed that Pope John Paul II shouldered his own suffering with “cheerfulness and forbearance,” in a way that made it clear that he was offering his suffering in union with Christ.
World Youth Day began in 1984 when more than 300,000 flocked to St Peter’s Square, in response to an invitation by Pope John Paul II for the youth of the world to join him for a jubilee celebration. The international gatherings have now been held in 10 cities around the world. In this video the President of the Pontifical Council for the Laity, Cardinal Stanislaw Rylko, tells us how did the WYD started.
Exhibitions in Wigry and Bielsko-Biala
Another, the 32nd anniversary of the John Paul II election to the Holy See was remembered by various celebrations and performances. In two separate exhibitions that were opened on October 16th on the opposite parts of Poland, exhibits from the Center for Documentation and Study of the Pontificate of John Paul II were used.
The Museum in Bielsko-Biala accented the 90th anniversary of the Karol Wojtyla birth date and 15th anniversary of the Pope’s visit in Bielsko-Zywiec Diocese with a show “John Paul II – De Vita ad Vitam”, which will be open until January 30, 2011.
In the presence of a multitude of thousands , Benedict XVI beatified Cardinal John Henry Newman at Cofton Park in Birmingham. This was one of the last ceremonies of his trip to the United Kingdom.
