On Sunday, Pope Francis celebrated his first Angelus. With thousands of cheering pilgrims, he reflected on the Gospel, emphasizing that God never gets tired of forgiving, but rather it's people who get tired of asking for forgiveness.

Станислава прошла встреча на тему «Верую в Христа-Искупителя», посвященная христологическим катехезам блж. Иоанна Павла II. Это была последняя встреча из цикла «Красота и сила веры», организованного Центром документации и изучения понтификата Иоанна Павла II и душепастырсвом храма св. Станислава. С докладом выступил свящ. д-р Томаш Трафный, член Папского совета по культуре.

В самом начале о. Томаш отметил, что достаточно трудно провести синтетическое анализирование христологических катехез Иоанна Павла II, потому что они достаточно объемны. Цикл катехез, посвященных Христу, продолжался три года, с конца августа 1986 г. до середины апреля 1988 г. Катехезы эти объединены в форму триптиха: первая часть говорит о тайне искупления и природе греха; вторая – касается Иисуса Христа, показывая Его личность и деятельность в свете Святого Писания и учения Церкви; третья часть затрагивает спасительное посланничество Христа, на первый план выдвигая феномен Пасхи.

The Pontifical Council for the Laity was organising the Pan-African Congress for the Catholic Laity in Yaounde in Cameroon. The theme of the Congress, “Being witnesses of Jesus Christ in Africa today: Salt of the earth… light of the world,” was highlighted by addresses by the president of the Pontifical Council for the Laity, Cardinal Stanisław Rylko and by interventions by Catholic leaders from throughout Africa. “Go, you too, to my vineyard…” (Mt 20, 3-4)

Cardinal Stanisław Rylko described the experience of the continental congress of the laity as a moment of particular epiphany of the Church in Africa. “We discovered her numerous spiritual resources, her great religious and human vitality, and the strong missionary dynamism of her laity”, he said during his closing discourse.

Pope Francis concluded his first Mass inside the Sistine Chapel. Gone were the tables where the cardinals had voted to elect him. During his first homily, the Pope explained that Christianity is based on three pillars, carrying, building and confessing the faith. The first Latin American Pope explained that to be true disciples of Christ, one must stay true to Jesus' teachings, welcome His Light and confess. But most importantly he said, one must never forget one's cross.
