John Paul II footsteps in Colorado

The John Paul II Foundation Friends group of Colorado is organizing two-day long celebrations in Saint Malo Catholic Center, 10758 Highway 7, Allenspark, CO (near Estes Park) in remembrance of the 18^th anniversary of the Holy Father’s John Paul II visit in Colorado.

1^st Day. The anniversary of the John Paul II arrival in Denver

Holy Father John Paul II flew to Denver on August 12, 1993. At the airport, He was welcomed by the president of the U.S. B. Clinton and church and state dignitaries.

Friday, August 12, 2011 at 7 p.m. An evening meeting by the fire. Songs, memories, and evening prayers. The night at the Center or at various lodgings, e.g. motels at Estes Park.

2^nd Day. Rest at the Rocky Mountains

Holy Father John Paul II came to Camp St. Malo for a break on August 13, 1993.

7:30 a.m. Breakfast

8:00 a.m. A walk on the path going along the stream on which Holy Father walked enjoying the mountain view

12:00 p.m. A Holy Mass at the historical church on the rock. The Mass will be celebrated by the Pastor of the Polish Church under the invocation of St. Joseph and Foundation’s Chaplain, Rev. Marek Ciesla TChr.

1:30 p.m. Lunch at the Center

2:30 p.m. For selection, depending on the physical abilities:

Rosary along the stations made with rocks by pilgrims
A trip to the stream source and waterfalls (45 min one way)
A trip to the Meeker top (13911 feet height) that patronage the Center

6:00 p.m. Dinner at the Center. A fire after the dinner

We recommend bringing good walking shoes and rain coats.

The program of the celebrations is organized in a way that allows joining us at any time. However, we are requesting that any late arrivals will happen before the Holy Mass. Beside the activities that are already listed, our program includes a meeting with the Leaders of the Center, prize lottery, an exhibition, information, and a program for children.
